Brains brains brains brains!!!!!!!
Mar. 24th, 2005 12:55 pmI'm very excited -- i'm heading home (back to maryland) in a few hours and i've got 4 brains packed in my duffel bag! (Hopefully i won't get searched... they're just in PBS but it might be hard to explain... ;-) )
Anyway, every year i bring brains in for my mom's 1st grade class -- and i talk to the kids about different parts of the brain, and how nerve cells work, etc. This year i've got a sheep's brain, two rat brains (one adult and one 5-day old) and a mouse brain!
So if anyone has some good brain-related teaching activities let me know! (One thing we do is take playdough, make sheets and then scrunch them up to demonstrate how much more surface area wrinkly brains have...)
My favorite part is grossing out all the other first grade teachers. Hee hee...
