Jul. 21st, 2005 05:06 pmI feel like my world is becoming a much scarier place, a feeling prompted not by bombings as much as by supreme court appointments... Violence, i know, is everywhere, but i'm naive enough to still believe that peaceful solutions are available. And these solutions begin with progressive social change. And that change needs to begin locally. And so i am terrified for myself and my country and the world.
But, like other progressives, i don't know what to do with this anxiety, i don't know how to channel it usefully. Does letter writing and petition signing actually work? I've always been skeptical but one organization has a loud voice that says it does.
So I am going to the next davis square Amnesty International meeting on August 9th at 7:00. (They meet on the second tuesday of each month). Is anyone interested in going with me?
