Just on the tiny off chance that there's anyone on my f-list who doesn't already know...

DAVE AND JASMINE! BEAUTY AND THE GEEK! VOTE! EARLY AND OFTEN! (okay, up to 10 times...)

www.cwtv.com

and pass it on!

***

Also, I LARPED on national tv last night. WTF? I don't know whether to be grateful or disappointed that most of the bits with me were cut. (sigh... no little tree nymph...) In fact, i don't think i got any lines, at lunch or otherwise. I think i'm mostly grateful that i don't have to die of embarrassment... but i guess i'm a teeny bit disappointed too...

BUT my garb got a staring role. I thought the doublet (okay, [livejournal.com profile] mentalapse's doublet -- he helped make it too...) looked particularly shiny. And i made the cloak and flower crown that Jasmine had on, and the purple shirt that [livejournal.com profile] pantsie was wearing as well. *grin*

I also called the viewer vote thing -- very early too. I think i called it before the first episode even aired! Hee!

Surreal..

I think you had a line or two. Mentalapse definitely had a more starring role, however I remember thinking that it was not nearly as embarrassing as you warned us it would be. It was just surreal that you were on National TV. Oh, and good sign-- right after the show it was hard to get on CW.com--meaning lots of votes hopefully coming Dave's way. Oh and elizabif was wondering if the wand was something she gave you once upon a time... :)

Hee hee! That was really all I could think for a little bit--hey, my gift was on TV. (Since that's about all of me that's been on TV since Jeopardy all those years ago! Though my mother is convinced that we are going to send in an application for the Amazing Race.)

oh, and it was only less embarrassing because they cut the bit with me with leaves stuck in my hair, prancing around in circles. Oh, you think i'm joking. :-)

Oh, they should have left that in! That would have been so cute! But you (and everyone else) looked great. It was a very nifty thing.

Well, since you're now outfitting the stars, I guess you're our next Reality TV Friend & off to "Runway Project" you go! ;-)

You guys looked/did/were great & we had lots of laughs and cheer as we watched!

Hee! I would be lying if i said i hadn't thought about it. But i think garb and fashion are actually two very different things...

(Note how every year in the Project Runway casting special there's someone who doesn't get this?)

The garb looked awesome and I thought you looked great. Can you tell us more about the cut bits? And how much had you prepped beforehand?

It was all very last minute -- the morning of the shoot we (pantsie, john, mentalapse and i) realized that they wanted us to "larp" and we had nothing prepared. So we came up with a quick little mini-quest -- you see, the evil Baron Von Malbec (yes, like the wine) had poisoned the princess. So the princess's best friend, Evergreen the elf (played by Jasmine -- she came up with the backstory herself) and some nobleman (I forget Dave's character) set out to find the cure. They were led by ranger Pantsie (I forget her character's name too; really, only Evergreen was memorable...).

Anyway, first they encountered a tree nymph (me!). I made them solve a riddle, gave them magic swords and told them which way to go. Then they were attacked by a brigand (John), who (i think) had a magic potion. Then they reached the evil Baron and his henchmen. During the battle Dave was killed and Jasmine, after a little prompting, figured out that she could use the potion to heal him. At last the baron was defeated -- but they still couldn't find the cure for the princess! That's when they realized that Pantsie had had it all along. And that's when things took a turn for the surreal as Evergreen, the bloodthirsty elf, decided to kill their guide. In the end i think she just cut off a leg or two and then used the potion, healed Pantsie's character, and then maybe cut off another limb. I was busy lying on the ground being dead (and enjoying the shade -- it was really HOT!) so Pantsie can probably tell this part better than i can...

In any case, it was kinda semi-larping. Actually, Dave noted that that the day's sample-larp was to a real game as our taste of reality-tv-making was to the real reality tv experience...

Yeah, sorry! We were watching with a slight DVR delay so i didn't want to answer... and then my folks called. I'll call tonight! :-)

I was sad that the little tree nymph wasn't there! It was a classic LARPing device and it would have shown the softer side of the experience.

Your garb certainly did take center stage - the doublet looked gorgeous as did all the feminine pieces that the women wore. The garlands were a nice touch and it helped to frame Ms. Bedhead's face nicely!

Yeah, they really focused on all the fighting, which was a shame since they had already shown a lot of that. Oh well!

I do think we came across as warm, fun people -- so i'm pleased overall, i think! :-) (Sad the no-bake cheesecake story didn't make it in either, though...)

Yes! Especially after the brownies scene!!

So what's the no-bake cheesecake story, for the rest of us?

Date: 2007-11-28 08:44 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] pantsie.livejournal.com
cerridwynn will tell this story best, but I believe it involved a catastrophic failure with a no-bake recipe. Dave didn't melt the butter before trying to integrate it into the graham cracker crust materials, etc. There's also a good story about cooking pasta...

The brownies scene was particularly endearing because of Dave's shaky history with amateur proof recipes. It was a true act of support for his partner!

This email is full of spoilers :-P uberjay and I have a 1 day delay since we don't have tv and have to wait till we can get a copy. I, however, called the viewer vote thing anyway, so I'm not suprised. I can't wait to check out all of the garb you made as soon as I get a chance to watch the episode.

From: [identity profile] cerridwynn.livejournal.com
oh, sorry. but i figured there wasn't that much to spoil anyway, since the viewer vote thing was hugely predictable and we already knew that dave and jasmine were visiting boston! :-)

I will say that there are two separate posts on "Oh No They Didn't" (the LJ celebrity/pop culture gossip group) about the finale. I will say that the majority of the comments in the post about voting were for Dave/Jasmine (lots of people hate Sam, especially since he's an actor).

There is also a post about the Date David website, which many people seem to think is creepy (but lots think is funny and are encouraging Boston girls to sign up on)...
