1930 - Mickey Mouse comic strip makes its first appearance.
1938 - Church of England accepts theory of evolution.

1927 - Sydney Brenner, British biologist, recipient of the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine (who, by the way, shared his nobel with my advisor's husband...)
1977 - Orlando Bloom, English actor (heh -- and he's older than i am! :-) )

1941 - James Joyce, Irish writer (b. 1882)
